Who We Are
Everyone who works at Rare is exceptional. Our team of thirty-seven includes a TV presenter, a DJ, the person with the highest first in his year at Oxford, a basketball coach, a one-time bra saleswoman, a football coach, a former Nando’s chef, a qualified dentist, the former Managing Partner of a City law firm, a qualified executive coach, and a land surveyor. Between us, we have worked at Clifford Chance, the Economist Group, the Financial Times, Freshfields, Goldman Sachs, Pearson, Slaughter and May, Travers Smith, Thomson Reuters, UBS, White & Case, and WPP.
Raphael Mokades is the founder and Managing Director of Rare.
Raphael graduated from Oxford University in 2001. He was in charge of diversity at Pearson plc from 2002 to 2005 and set up Rare in 2005. The business now works with some of the UK’s most prestigious companies and has over 5,000 candidates on its books.
Rare’s Board includes Sir David Bell, former Chairman and CEO of the Financial Times, Graham White, former Executive Partner of Slaughter and May, and Sandra Teichman, former General Counsel of Unisys.
Rare has won a series of awards including two Race for Opportunity Awards for Recruiting Diverse Talent 2015, the Race for Opportunity Future Workforce Award 2013, the Law Society Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award 2014, the UK Diversity Legal Attracting Talent Award 2012, and the Reach Society Corporate Supporter Awards 2012 and 2013. We were also Highly Commended for the Race for Opportunity Mentoring Award 2012.
